Destacan sus nominaciones a mejor película, mejor actriz (Yalitza Aparicio), mejor director (Alfonso Cuarón), mejor guión original (Alfonso Cuarón), mejor cinematografía y mejor película en lengua extranjera.
La película The Favourite también presume 10 nominaciones, casi en las misma categorías que la película de Cuarón, por lo que será interesante ver cómo compiten en la ceremonia de premiación, la cual se llevará a cabo el próximo 24 de febrero.
Además de Roma y The Favourite, las otras película que compiten por la estatuilla a mejor película son: Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, A Star Is Born y Vice.
De acuerdo con Netflix, Roma narra un año turbulento en la vida de una familia de clase media en la Ciudad de México en los 70. Cuarón, inspirado en las mujeres de su infancia, ofrece un homenaje artístico al matriarcado que moldeó su mundo.
"Filmada en blanco y negro, es un retrato íntimo, conmovedor y optimista de las relaciones familiares en medio de fuertes cambios personales y sociopolíticos", agrega.
